‘Greetings from home’ seeks to reverse the idea of typical postcards sent from exotic travels. Oftentimes postcards are used to share impressive vistas of snowy mountain tops, sandy beaches or skylines at sunset with our loved ones. ‘Greetings from home’ focuses on small things of everyday life instead: the mundane chore, the small repeating actions that are easily recognizable for everyone but invariably go unnoticed. The way in which the actions differ from one day to another only really becomes apparent when you put them next to each other, like the ‘spot the differences’ picture puzzles in children’s magazines. To share these very personal experiences lets us rethink the value of the concept of ‘home’ and appreciate the work and pleasure that goes into making one.
The collage on the postcards is a selection of three times seven drawings from a collection of 35 drawings in total that depict everyday activities. On the three postcards you can see ‘washing hands’, ‘cutting a bell pepper’ and ‘emptying the bin’.
‘Greetings from home’ is a submission for the curators’ open call ‘POSTCARDS’. Our work will be exhibited in the summer of 2026 in Paris.
